There has to be one. Pokédex entries don't specify a "form" unless there's at least two of them. Otherwise it would just have "Male" and "Female" under forms, like every non-form gendered Pokémon.

This could very well just be flavortext by the NPC, such as your soul being sucked out by looking into the back of a shedinja. I'm sure there's other examples of NPCs exaggerating details.

Yeah, random bullshit is built into the game (and especially into pokedex). IMO Arceus is no more god than Zeus is chucking lightnings at yo ass during storms.
