Do you really give a shit about this stuff? My friends would always talk about their favorite trainers, gym leaders, and npcs, I would never know any of them. They're in the game for like 3 seconds and most of them get 3 sentences at best WHO GIVES A FUCK

The humans and story are the least important part of the pokemon games. Period.

They're also poorly executed in game after game. No on has any expectations for them.

you're going to set out with a childhood friend to become a pokemon trainer, then battle 8 gym leaders while every now and then coming across a force that is doing (insert bad thing) to Pokemon/the world. I know the story is never much cop but I like the occasional nice lines you get, the pokedex descriptions, the occasional lore around legendaries and rumors. And a lot of the unspoken stuff too... Just have to use a little imagination.

The thing is, there IS no lore. The region has no legendaries, and Kanpachi and Zar specifically mentioned the utter lack of people talking about legendaries or other myths in the region.

FUN FACT: Producers of the anime were concerned about how Brock would be received to foreign audiences. They feared that he would be met with racism, due to the fact that he was intended to look Asian. Hence the eyes.

She isn't the same race as Brock. We've actually never seen another character with his race, outside of his family.

It's a thing if they have active and positive parental figures. Part of the reason why black youths are shown to be fuck ups has more to do with lack of nurturing and a value for knowledge. They're taught to be defensive and protective of their own before they're taught how the world objectively works.
