The clothes are reportedly kind of expensive and fight for finances with the typical pokeballs and healing items so I'm not surprised they haven't done much with customization yet.

consider the following:
i read on one of the leak pages that the 'crush' your opposite has on you is similar to the one with yancy/curtis (blushing when they talk to you, and quite obvious hints), but is triggered because serena gets jealous of shauna kinda flirting with you. so considering gamefreak rarely change npc's to suit gender, does that mean if you pick serena shauna tries to yuri it up with you in order to trigger the same jealous event for calum?
