I was wondering.
Most media releases are on Tuesday. Why is Pokemon on Friday? Im guessing theres some kind of international reason.

It's a kid's game, kids don't have school Saturdays and can go pick up the game. Nintendo usually does their releases on Saturdays and Sundays.

The marketing is actually very clever. Kids will be more likely to buy it on release, because it is at the end of the school week.

The only game that was marketed like this in recent memory was Skyrim, and it worked brilliantly for that.

Honestly, more games should follow suit. Nobody wants to pick up a game mid-week, with work/school.

This is why Game releases are ALWAYS friday here in the UK, unless its something like GTA, then its tuesday to fit in with US.

Nothing feels better than leaving work friday, and having a weekend with your new plaything.

because it's a GLOBAL release. Every country has its own release date for games normally. Japan usually releases games when it wants. So they had to pick a day that satisfies all countries
