There's a non-chain game store in Salem, MA (those who know the area will know the one) that said that they'd put their copies up for sale as soon as they came in, be that before or after launch. I'll probably check on them on Thursday.

In Louisiana, as far as I know the only major stores are Gamestop, Game Ware in Baton Rouge and Play N Trade in some other cities. None of them are breaking the street dates. I don't know any other retailers.

For NYC bros...kinda sad that it's just a few hours before the date you'd normally get it if you go midnight release though. Did they clamp down hard on American distribution date after the Canada fiasco or something? All of my street date break stores are citing Friday as being the day they'll have it.

The copies that were sent out last week were supposed to be for large stores with their own distribution warehouses that require more time like Walmart and Costco. Someone at Nintendo fucked up and sent it to a small Canadian chain (thus the "heads rolling at Nintendo") The stores talking about shipments coming in this week are getting it from their warehouse, while the smaller stores may not arrive until a day or two before.

I don't have much faith in Walmart, at least not the ones in my area. There are times when a game comes out and they never have or, or start displaying it a few days later. I almost feel like bribing an employee to look for it, or just say, hey there is this game released today, can you check if yoy have it? Hoping that they have no idea, but don't think that will work.

NYCbro here, checked Chinatown. The bigger game stores refuse to break street date, and the smaller stores, or ones that have broken street date in the past aren't getting their shipment until Friday or Saturday., but this was two days ago.
Only searched the area near Brooklyn Bridge, though.

I used to work in retail (not Kmart though) and I can tell you the store I worked at had no preventative measures like that. My store broke the street date for Animal Crossing with no problem.

How to break street date:

1: Go to wal-mart
2: Find name of electronic's section head while "shopping" - just look at it and find it.
3: Call in once you get home, be angry, say your preorder was botched, no receipt got printed, and you didn't get your money back
4: Insist that you now have no guarantee of getting the game that you put money down for
5: Speak to managers, stick to your story
6: Say you'll pay full price since you KNOW they have some in stock but you need to have guarantee you'll get one so you'd like to pick it up today or tomorrow.
7: Insist you spoke to a person whose name was close to the electronic's manager's name and they said that would be acceptable.
8: Show up at Wal-Mart
9: Cause a scene, stick to your story, make the manager look like an ass even though they both know you're full of it
10: Enjoy your new Pokemon X.

Really? I heard about a GameStop selling it early in Highland Park, but I didn't have the time to scour each and every Gamestop in the area.

You morons have no idea how retail works, do you?

The electronics department makes it a strict policy to sale their products at the established dates they themselves already have. You can raise hell and stomp around all you want, but they're not legally obliged to sell you a copy. And even if you DO manage to fool them with a fake ad, the only response they're legally allowed to give is "I apologize for the inconvenience and our incorrect advertisement, but we are not allowed to sell this product until the date we have it listed at for inventory purposes".

CT fag here. Checked a shitton of locations here in Fairfield county both yesterday and today to no avail. A Play-N-Trade that I went to yesterday was about to sell me a copy, but backed out at the last minute to avoid feeling the wrath of Reggie and Iwata's ninjas.

Pic Related, because while I was in Best Buy today I stumbled across the carrying cases for the 2DS being sold early. It's not entirely related to Pokemon, but it is being released on the same day as the games, so there's that.

I live about 20 minutes from Parmatown so I could check around the Target, TRU, Gamestop and Walmart there. I'd probably have to go tomorrow though after classes are done.
