>>14375052You are probably the first guy I've ever seen on /vp/ talkign about this topic and actually knwoing his shit. I salute you.
I don't get how people fail to understand that evasion and OHKO are annoying and usually bad, not broken.
>>14375209First of all, evidence. GS was played competetively without an evasion clause for most of its time. Back then, evasion was much more powerful as every Pokémon was bulky and had recovery. Still, it sucked most of the time. It's obvious when you look at the charts: After using Double Team twice, your opponent is still more likely to hit than not. After using Dragon Dance twice, you better sweep 3 mons straight away. On average, evasion moves are ridiculously bad.
If you know how and keep your cool (most players have lost that knowledge I think), it is also very easy to play against it: Basically any setup moves outperforms evasion setup in the long run. In GSC, people just used to Curse up against evasion setup and thus gain the edge they needed to win the whole match. Today, you'd bring a Bulk Up or SD/DD abuser. After three turns, your chances of hitting your opponent are 50/50, but you are at +3/+3. If you miss, you lose a turn against a bulky set-upper. If you hit, you win the game if you're not stupid. The odds are daramtically in your favor.
