First and only random shiny was Budew during a nuzlocke, which was pretty sweet. Otherwise I have a bunch but only from chaining. Played every region and put hundreds of hours into the games. They are tough to come across.

My first one was just a Tentacruel, which I thought was a shit Pokemon at the time because it was so common. My second shiny was a fucking Rayquaza though, legit. Needless to say, I used that master ball more decisively than I ever had before. I have no idea where he is now..

Then came internal battery death- I'll never forgive myself.

I also had a Tangela in Gen 3 or 4, don't remember exactly because I never used it. Named Slimy.

My first shiny was a mother fucking Mareep. I remember it perfectly. My mom got me Silver when it first came out after a surgery I had on my eyes and I played that shit 24/7. I came to a route that had Mareeps and got this weird one with pink fluff instead of yellow fluff. I was confused but kept it. I leveled that badass through a Flaaffy and then Ampharos. Then years later, figured out that shinies are rare as hell and cherished that shiny Ampharos since. I still have my Silver cartridge in my room.

My first ever non-story related shiny was a Zubat, and that was in Soul Silver. I've played every game since R/B/Y and the first Shiny I ever see is a fucking Zubat more than ten years after I started playing. I may have the shittiest Shiny luck out there.

To top it off the only shiny I've seen or captured since then is a shiny Cubchoo in White.

That was a bad day.

Thankfully, I got REALLY into chaining in platinum and managed to catch a shitload of legit shinies that are all total bros now.

Voltorb here, from before I know what shinies are in New Mauville. Thought something was wrong with my game, so I caught it. It was still blue, so I used it, and it's backsprite was also blue. Evolved it, still blue. Kept it anyways. I didn't realize that all Pokemon could have a different color palette as Gyarados did in GSC. My mom sold my Sapphire and LeafGreen versions though when I got older.

It can.
The thing about chaining is, each successful encounter in the chain raises the odds of encountering a shiny.
Once you get in the high 30s, you can guarantee yourself a shiny as long as you're patient.
As long as you keep a TON of repels on hand and don't accidentally walk into wiggling patches of grass, you can just keep resetting the radar until a shiny patch shows up.

Hell, I managed to catch TWO shiny grimers because I kept the chain going after I caught one.

All you have to do is just keep resetting the Pokeradar until you find one.
Chaining is all about risk/rewards. You can stop your chain at 20 and just keep walking around resetting the radar with extremely low odds, or you can risk breaking your chain and increase your chances of finding a shiny.

So, my first catch was in ruby. I hooked myself a motherfucking GOLD magikarp. This was awesome as it looked great, and around about the same time I'd got a gold magikarp shiny pokemon card for Christmas that I knew was super-rare. Only problem was, I didn't want to evolve it because it'd become your garden variety red gyarados.

The last shiny I got was in Black. A golden sandile that I levelled up into a gold Krookodile. Lost the save file in the end, though.

I don't have any bad shinies that i've caught although I am a victim of gold graveler blowing up on me in the original gold version.

I did have some extremely bad luck in 1st gen though. and if you want to hear, pull up a chair. While rolling for pokemon with good DVs I managed to catch a pokemon with the following DV spread. In gen 1 15 is the max number.

HP-14
ATTACK-15
DEFENSE-15
SPEED-15
SPECIAL-14

The way this formula works is that if the special stat is an odd number DV, the HP gets +1 from the special stat.

The stat I rolled could have been a 14 or a 15 at a lower level, I had to level it up to see which one it turned out to be.

If the Special stat had been a 15, the HP would have also been turned into a 15.

This means that I rolled a pokemon that was literally one roll down from a pokemon that has perfect DVs or the elusive Max Gene pokemon that is around or over 3x rarer than pokerus. Over 1/60,000

My others were. Golbat (not too bad), Wingull (could be worse), and Caterpie (but at least it's not Burmy).

Also shiny exploding Drifblim = never recovering. Also shiny ROM Scraggy = never recovering.

I've had relatively good luck finding Shinies, though I don't have most of them anymore. I had an Ampharos and Crobat in Gold, then got a Girafarig and Swablu in Emerald, all of which have been lost to time. The only natural shiny I currently have, off the top of my head, is my beloved Cofagrigus from White 2.

Crobat was my first, and I kinda like(d) it, but I know some really don't like that one.

First shiny I found in the wild was a Wheezing in Mt Stark in Diamond. It used self destruct.

Another shiny I found was a Spearow. During a Nuzlocke run. It was not the my first encounter of the route. I fainted it.

Another one was Durant in Black. Caught it. But my Black version was stolen along with all of my pokemon from Emerald, Diamond, Soul Silver, and Platinum.

Since I completed the national dex in White 2, all I do is try to breed shinies in it. The first week I bred like 4 for some friends, but after that I hit a dry spell that I'm still on.

I didn't see any real shinies until Gen IV, but I ended up with several after then, not counting the mass-produced one from the Pokewalker (of which I had many).

My first shiny was technically a Staryu I hatched from an egg, but Steelix was the first one I found in the wild, in Diamond's Victory Road. I was fairly pleased, although I don't think I ever ended up using it.

My first shiny was a Snorlax blocking the road in LeafGreen. I was sleepy as fuck and thought I imagined it. Not "shitty", but he IS just a nicer shade of blue, as opposed to actually being some crazy color.

In a stroke of unrealistic luck, when I reached the Safari Zone, I found a Shiny Exeggcute and I was stressing like crazy because the Safari Zone is a load of balls in Kanto with the fear of it running away.

So I got two Shinies in LeafGreen.

I proceeded to get Shiny Gloom in Diamond, Shiny Pidgey in HeartGold and Shiny Boldore in Black.

All of these are fully evolved now except Exeggcute. I simply don't like Shiny Exeggutor as much as Exeggcute.

Gloom became Vileplume. My friend ALSO got a shiny Gloom (or Oddish? Dunno) and made it into a Bellossom. Didn't even know until we had a battle in PBR and it came down to our Shiny Gloom evos.

I got the Shiny Charm in Black 2 finally at the end of September, but I didn't bother with breeding my Japanese Ditto with everything to try getting a new shiny.

My first shiny was Floatzel, in my ex-boyfriend's game! But what bugs me most, I found shiny Giratina from my friend's Pearl when showing her where to find Giratina. My favourite pokemon, shiny, and couldn't even keep it.

I got a shiny Ditto for my first shiny ever in Pokemon White. I think it's more pathetic that my first shiny I ever caught (Red Gyrados doesn't count) was all the way in the 5th gen despite me being with the series since the beginning. Why am I so unlucky?
