>>14389161I'll agree with you on the notion that Pokemon fans are unpleaseable fucks.
However, that 'stuff' as you mentioned in your own words, are changes. You've categorized them as progress, however changes aren't always a good thing.
Take my mega evolutions example. They rehash several old species with new designs, and coincidentally we have a considerably smaller selection of Pokemon revealed within this generation.
One of Gamefreak's main intentions with mega evolutions was to try and prevent the franchise from stagnating - by simultaneously introducing a new concept, appealing to younger fans with glitzy designs, and appealing to older fans who like the older Pokemon being affected.
However, this gimmick only delays the inevitable. How long is it going to remain viable?
Are they going to squeeze this gimmick as much as they can by giving every Pokemon a mega evolution?
Is the series going to shift away from creating new Pokemon and focus on rehashing the older ones?
Regardless of whether they use it for only this generation or for as many as they can afford, it will fail to stop the series from stagnation.
Besides, the whole concept of mega evolutions is lazy, even if it does admittedly appease the drooling, mongoloid fans.
>Take a popular/nostalgic Pokemon>Add some sparkles/hair/spikes>Try and sell if off as a new Pokemon>"Hey, fans! We can't be fucked adding another 30 Pokemon, but look! Charizard is black now! Make sure to buy our games!I hope you can see the point I'm trying to establish.
