I do not hate the key, but Chandelure is pretty cool thematically.
I think its dex entries won over people that are usually put off by Pokemon based on objects.

The fact that it is a rape train probably helps.

I don't hate Klefki. I don't like the design itself, I couldn't care less about the car keys, I just don't like the design.
Chandelure on the other hand looks amazing.

Well that is the reason fairy type exists. It's pretty much a dumping ground for the cute/girly pokemon.
Not that I have a problem with this. I have a weakness for cute things.

No one would be complaining about Klefki if it didn't have the literal keys attached to the bottom. Just the ring and main body are enough to get the design across

I honestly used Chandelure as my main mate during Black and White, one of the few pokemon I got all the way to 100 without intentionally trying. I just really liked his design, movepool, typing, and stats. Great Pokemon overall.

Chimecho isn't getting any attention this gen either.
I hope it at least gets a new move or ability that makes it viable at least in the lower tiers, like Magic Bounce.
