The best knockoff was the original 2 Dragon Warriors Monsters. Honestly they were way better then Pokemon in my opinion.

Those magic keys, endless worlds, constant breeding for strength and new monsters....
Too bad the new ones messed the formula and have edgier hair then Yugioh.

Demi kids huh? sorry buddy boy, the shin megami tensei series has been going on since September 11, 1987. the first monster collecting game ever made.. so open your mouth and suck it dry. also robopon is a spin off of Slapstick, a game from 93 where a professor gives you a pet robot to fight with, you can carry a few robots in the original game ( 1993) but they have to be stored in spheres ( red and white ones) Double suck it dry.

on another related note Dragon Warrior is from 88 and many of the original games (90-94) allow you to also collect and fight with monsters. Triple suck it dry. Fact of the matter is, theres no such thing as a knockoff. its just a genre. Pokemon didnt invent it, they are all good games.

Pokemon as of now is copying Digimon, not because of Mega-Evolution, but because of Pokemon-Amie where Pokemon are practically Virtual Pets now.

Digimon started as virtual Pets while Pokemon wasn't.

Digimon was out long before pokemon was even a thought on a childs mind in the US, im 25 years old and my earliest mon related memory is the virtual pets that evolved and battled when i was a 3rd grader, actually when the pokemon game came out for gameboy i was so excited to get it because i has assumed it was a new digimon, both ideas do their own thing, just two more games in the monster collecting genre

I never played the games, but I absolutely loved medibots, it was like pokemon but robots! so cool.
