i think they're just seperating different types of Pokemon, like the legendaries and megas. not sure about the gaps around Noivern and Gourgeist though.

I'm in love with the Kaiju designs for Tyranitar and Aggron's Mega Evolutions. They both look like something straight out of a classic Toho film.

The plot sections revealed in Josh's threads also make it very likely that there will be a Mega Rhyperior as well.

Mega stones seem to come from pieces of pokemon that were petrified in an ancient war, and you can see a Rhydon on the battlefield
