Here's the problem with HOENN CONFORMBLED:
The two largest demographics of Pokemon players are those who are very young, and 18-24 year olds.
What this of course means is that the people playing Pokemon are either (a) a new generation of young players, or (b) people who love the series because they grew up playing Gens I and II.
GameFreak knows this. It's why there's so much pandering to us Kantofags in Kalos, with Gen I starters, Mewtwo, and the Legendary Birds reappearing. They're marketing this game to us, the same way they marketed FR/LG and HG/SS to us. They're cashing in on our nostalgia.
R/S, sorry to say, just don't have the same fan base. I know a lot of people loved those games dearly and while I never played them, I do feel bad for the people who did and who would love to see their nostalgia get a 3D facelift.
But I don't think it's going to happen because the expected sales just aren't there yet.
Look at it this way: NOBODY ever says "Pokemon died after Emerald, the rest of the games were shit. Original 387 are the only REAL pokemon." Hoennbabbies are gonna buy the new games anyway, you aren't a market to be won over with nostalgia pandering.
