>>14430574Sounds to me like you've never had a job period or were just a little peon for a while. I've worked at Kroger, Kmart, and numerous food places and have dealt with the most irate, irrational customers on the planet.
Obviously nobody ever "gave them hell"; you're twisting my words out of proportion. But I have seen managers tell them that sorry, but you're -wrong- and no, we -can't- do that x ridiculous thing for you. This is how we work, these are our policies, and you're going to have to deal with that.
There are always threats of taking it even higher than the store manager and calling whatever corporate number, but I've never ever seen anyone lose their job over that. Ever. Managers will discuss the issue with the peons but I've never seen someone get fired or a corporate order come down and magically erase a peon from existence just because one customer had a shitfit over something stupid. Management usually isn't that stupid, and if that's how it worked where you worked, then you had a shitty job at a shitty business. You don't just upend someone from their job over one customer.
THAT ALL SAID, this has fucking nothing to do with picking vidya up at midnight. If it's not on the shelf, yes, you CAN ask a manager and yes, if it's past midnight you CAN buy it. I've done it LOADS of times at Meijer and Wal-Mart. Sometimes they legit don't get some games in stock yet because they aren't major releases but in Pokemon X and Y's case, they have been shipped out to every major retail chain for a while now and every store has them in backstock. There shouldn't be a problem getting one unless people ravage the store of its stock before you get there.
