All of the Megas get a buff that puts them at least into the 600 BST range. Some Megas (like Venusaur's) are worse than the original because Gamefreak can't design their own game for shit and they do things like try to turn Venusaur into a Wall (which Mega Venusaur can't do due to its typing and lack of held item)

We don't know Mega Mawile's stats yet but people love to baselessly speculate. Huge Power and a significant defesive buff should be enough to make it easily OU viable, especially if it gets a few new moves.

Once the game comes out Smogon will eliminate all tiers, and the evaluation process will begin.

It's during this time that people will decide whether mega stones should be banned to ubers on a case by case basis, or a blanket ban on megas as a whole.

That seems pretty OP, but compare it to Mega Gengar:

Shadow Tag

or Mega Blaziken

w/ Speed Boost

And then you realize it's more likely than not to stay in OU.

Teams in OU will simply be 5 OUs + Mega.

Honestly, I don't see people using anything other than Mega Gengar on their teams (barring an ULTRA-GOOD Mega we've yet to see).

Gengar's movepool, ability, and stats would rape Ubers as it exists today. It OHKOs the bulkiest Giratina-A and Steel Arceus builds. Xerneas has 0 chance against it.

The combination of steel nerfs + the rest of this stuff has turned the king into a monster. 6 straight gens in OU.

In perspective, even 252/252+ Weezing takes around 70% from a +2 Close Combat. All Dragons bar Multiscale Dragonite are OHKOd by Close Combat, and all fairies are dead to Bullet Punch. Last move covers whatever your team needs.

Steel was a ridiculously good defensive type, it had the most resistances of any type bar none. Bringing it down a notch wasn't a bad thing. It does mean you have to re-evaluate what you use (Bronzong is no longer the god of walls; Metagross can actually be smashed now, etc), but it's wasn't a bad decision, IMO.

Pikachu's fine because it often isn't meant to be taken seriously.

Mewtwo's fine because everyone expects to be hot shit, so much so GF doesn't do much with it.

As for Charizard, Mega Charizard X is the only bone GF has given it in a while.

As soon as Lucario was advertised in the first Mystery Dungeon, I should've known something was amiss.

Both mega mewtwos are meh and an uber team is better off with something like mega gengar.

Mewtwo X only gains a big ass atk, but has the same stats as regular mewtwo otherwise. He still gets one shot by +2 normal arceus or kyogre, and will get one shotted by the likely popular fairy arceus. The only benefit is that stab low kick will now one shot normal arceus and dalgia. All 3 of those pokemon will remain extremely common, and you will have wasted a mega slot. Outside of an incredible signature stab move like a fighting extreme speed, mewtwo x is highly lacking.

Mewtwo y looks much better on paper, till you realize the most common mewtwo checks still run all over it. 140 base speed does not allow him to outspeed 90 base speed scarfers even with 252 timid. Genesect will now guarantee a ones hot u turn, while giratina o and sucker punch will one shot mewtwo y. It's increased sp def and high ass sp atk makes it better than regular mewtwo, but in overall scheme of things the one per team mega would have been better off spent on something like mega gengar as a potent revenge killer on your team

Forgot to mention, that isn't to say mega gengar is the end all be all of megas. Id personally prefer mega absol or even mawille. I only mentioned gengar in ubers because that mega transform would be better spent on transforming other shit other than mega mewtwo.

My hunch says that ex killer arceus will drop in usage in ubers and xerneas wont be super popular simply because fairy arceus will exist. Fairy plate can switch into any dragon and get a free +2 sdance or calm mind. Dialga will definitely get more popular though, since he can stab any potential check that comes in. Ghost arceus Im not too sure about.

Is Magic Bounce even that useful when you have to go mega first? I mean, you can just switch in Espeon and Xatu when you expect the enemy to use a bouncable move, but you can't do that with Absol.
