So if the legendary bird trio is confirmed, I wonder if GF will explain their way out of letting you catch them earlier in Kanto.

Maybe they're immortal. If they are, would that mean that a Pokemon who outlives its trainer is set free when the trainer dies?

How did they even end up in the Kalos region? Why are they even still together as a trio if they're capable of traveling from region to region? Do they have some kind of connection with each-other that keeps them close?
