If they were sneaking about they might wear black but a real Ninja would do something I like blend in as a farmer in a field with tall crops, crossbow the fucker as they came past, put the crossbow back down in the grass and keep farming with nobody realizing he did anything. They mostly wore normal clothes to blend in and would just listen and gather info and would kill basically as any other assassin might. Kunoichi were basically the same, they'd pose as high class hookers or courtiers and just be like any other woman, gather info from clients and in meetings, and poison/shank people while fucking them.
Real Ninjas were just as you'd expect any other assassin to be anywhere in the globe and even now.
