tbh, if we lived in a pokemon world, I'm not sure things would be so different. We'd still have filet o' magikarp, and miltank burgers, and I guess torchic nuggets and such.

We can eat all the magikarp we want, such weak and slow animals they are just made to be eaten unless someone goes out of their way to evolve it.

Even then I'd bet a gyarados would eat their pre-evolution brethren if it was hungry without a second though.
