I like to see creatures which could feasibly have developed naturally (with rare obvious exceptions like Porygon). I do appreciate that Japan is big on the whole "inanimate things come to life after a time", but that doesn't mean I like it or the results of it.
I just ignore the majority of such Pokémon, if I can't invent an alternative explanation for their appearance that comes from nature (e.g. Grimer is not literally sludge, it just secretes a lot of it).
