I love Fennekin to death but I just love Chesnaught too! Should I just get Fennekin and then wait until I'm gifted Chespin in the aftergame or should I start with Chespin and get the gift of the wonderful Froakie?

Delphox might be the best overall pokemon of the three, but Greninja is by far the coolest and may or may not have a really cool ability.

Chespin's match ups with the gym leaders make it hard modo. Its stats and movepool are nothing to slouch at though. Fennekin is fast and has high SpAtk so it's probably easier to use than the other starters.

I think Gen 4's major saving grace is Empoleon. The other two are forgettable. Generation 5's were just boring. None were all that bad, but none of them were were fun to battle with and I usually replaced them over time.
