Is normal Aggron losing it's Rock type? or just when it MegaEvols loses Rock typing.

How would this make you feel?
I like Aggron a lot but hate it's rock typing

Unless Aggron gets some Special Defense, he DOESN'T want Dragon typing. It will only hurt him. He has Filter anyway.

Nah, Normal Aggron is staying the same. Mega Aggron is pure Steel.

I'd be pumped if it did, though. 4x ground and fighting weakness is suffering. Especially on something as kickass as this thing.

He will be a hefty tank as a Mega Pure Steel/Filter.
Nothing higher than 1.5X damage against him due to Filter and huge HP and Def stats.
Even a STAB will still be less against Aggron than any other Pokemon.

Only Fire/Fight/Ground will be Stab Super Effectives against him. Everything else he is resistant to.
Fire is pretty underplayed because of Stealth Rock and Aggron has high Normal Def meaning his other 2 weakness Fight/Ground which are mostly physical Sweep will still not hit him as hard as other pokemon and being only 1.5x damage isntead of 2, means a 100 power Stab moves.
which would be 300 damage Super Effective, would only be 225. 75 damage is a nice chunk off.

Also Steel SE against Fairy and Resistant to Fairy.

But Goodra does look like a dragon.
Gyara is debatable, Charizard is a salamander, a fire spirit that looks like a lizard, often winged, aka not a dragon.
But Tyrantrum is not a dragon no matter how you look at it.

Goodra does not look anything like a Dragon I've ever seen before. Gyarados is based on a legend of a fish becoming a dragon. Charizard is clearly based on european dragons.

GameFreak can essentially make whatever the hell they want.

I mean Venosaur is a dinosaur and it's grass/poison.

Aggron stays the same, mega gets pure steel and filter.
It's only weak to fire, fighting, and ground, no 4x weaknesses, and thanks to Filter it only take 1.5x from SE attacks.

It does lose rock STAB, but I feel it's worth it.

He's an ore eating pokemon, eating impure iron within rock.

Being Rock/steel made the most sense for his theme.

With his new form he loses rock and gains the ability filter, therefore he has been purified, filtered of his impurities and refined into pure iron.
