Walking was cute, but it didn't have much to do and felt pretty empty/hollow.

Amie looks to have the level of interaction walking felt like it had as a vague concept (before actually doing so and realizing it just leaves you waiting for Godot).

It's true that it didn't really "do" much, but I liked changing my party lead just to see how they bobbed along behind me while I ran around everywhere, you do so much of that in these games anything that adds variety is welcome

I loved it. I understand why it can't return (especially since everything is more 'on scale' and close up in X and Y; imagine a life sized Wailord or someshit) but it was just one other special thing about HGSS that made them my favourite games.

It's really great, but after a while it got old. I hardly ever talk to my pokmeon following me anymore, and it's just sort of there to look cool.

Amie as a concept is better in every way. The only thing missing is seeing how a pokemon reacts to being talked to while walking.

Funny, I always though Amie was the natural extension of the Pokewalker, being that it retains that virtual pet quality... which I guess Dream World did too, in a Farmville sort of way, except the implementation was shit.
