This may or may not be common knowledge I'm asking for, but when does one find Skrelp and Jigglypuff in X/Y?

I do know Skrelp is Y exclusive, so you don't need to tell me that bit.

The Kalos region's Pokedex is split into 3 different Pokedexes: Central, Coastal, and Mountain.

The game's story progresses in this order from first to to last: Central, Coastal, Mountain.

Jigglypuff is available in the Mountain region, so it's in the last third of the story.

Oh wow, that's not so great considering 4 of the 6 things I was planning on using are apparently available before the second gym.

This seems like it'll be some oddly paced team growth, at least with Unova I was adding things fairly regularly even if in each game one of those didn't get got until after the last gym.

Thanks for the answer, in any case. I'm assuming Skrelp is Coastal?

Not really. It does go Central, then Coastal, then Mountain, but you can clear the first third of Coastal before the third Gym. You will start encountering Mountain pokemon before you learn the bad guys are bad guys.

There's hope for you yet! Apparently, the Pokedex doesn't span across the story like I claimed.

It does go in that order I mentioned, but you may get to the Mountains earlier than expected.

I haven't used one in about four gens, so I have no fucking idea what it's even used for. I just wanted to use a Fairy that wouldn't clash with my other choices (Delphox, Aegislash, Aurorus, Hawlucha and Dragalge) and all the new ones are fairly unpleasant to me. It hasn't been too long since I used an Azumarill even if now it'd be a bit different, so I think that kinda narrows it down to Jiggles.
