I can sort of see Gen 3 and 4 being paired. Expansive routes that give a feeling of adventure, Pokemon from old and new gens in each game, third versions and remakes complementing both pairs of games.

It was the best designed generation since GSC, easily, both in terms of the region and the pokemon present therein. I don't understand why all of the Hoennbabbies and Sinnohfetuses seem to hate it so much since it was way better than their favorite versions.

This game is so fucking good. I hate that I waited so long to get it.

I truly hope the game(s) that come after X/Y, be they remakes of RSE, Z, or X2/Y2, will build upon everything like these games have.

And god damn do I really hope that Gen VII is more like V in terms of new Pokemon. Gen V was so amazing, going into a world filled with nothing but new Pokemon. Never have the games felt as fresh and good - everything I've heard about VI's Pokedex seems like such a massive step backwards, purely there to draw in purchases from people buying off of nostalgia rather than those who have stuck with the series for all these years.

Well, I've gotten off topic. In short? Long live Gen V.

Generation 5 carries for me, more emotional weight than any Generation since the third. For once in the series, we got an interesting plot with dynamic characters, some fucking feelsey music, some of the best post-Sugi Monster designs, and in hindsight, this all is the perfect farewell to 2D Pokemon as we've all grown to know it.

It's the end of an era. I may look towards the future, with tears in my eyes, but not so much that I fail to see the light shimmering on the horizon. That light refracts on my tears, and I see it all the brighter! A new day is upon us, let us seize it!

Yeah, I can only think of two lines of blatant shitmons, the ice cream and the pokeball mushroom. Also the Kami were fucking stupid looking until they got Therian formes. Stuff like Garbodor has always been in pokemon and is funny. There was some uninteresting stuff like the roggenrolla line but all in all, gen 5 designs were great. It was an amazing fucking generation to be a fan of the bug type in particular.

Easily the worst generation. Mostly because of the linearity and throwaway moves. Had many good pokemon, but also introduced the worst pokemon designs (like Keldeo.) All in all will be regarded as shit in hindsight and will take Gen IV's spot as the "bandwagon punchingbag" gen, except that there's actually a lot of legitimate reasons to dislike Gen V. Look forward to a revival of popularity in Gen IV as the genwunner fog disperses over Gen V, revealing it to be the shit heap it was.

All in all I liked the pokemon and "plot", as well as the sequels. However it was absolutely crippled by its disgusting linearity and the worst legendaries of the entire series, as well as worst moves introduced. HOWEVER it did have a certain charm to it.

5/10, happy to move on. X & Y are looking to be the best we've ever had, so I'm ready to move past mediocre Gen V into glorious based Gen VI.

All nostalgia aside, I have to give you this one. There were still too many legendaries and the map was way too linear, and really uninteresting in general (i.e. short routes)
I still don't know why every one is so up and arms about only three legendaries. I say good. Fuck 'em, we don't need more.

I have to say, at first I really hated this gen. I played White, beat it, and never touched it again. The only thing I liked was Scraggy. I bought Black 2 but stopped around the 3rd gym, from disinterest maybe, but decided to pick it back up in anticipation of XY, and wow, it has to be one of my favorite generations. They finally stepped up the story to something halfway decent and added tons of great Pokemon. My only real complaint is that it was so linear, but so was nearly every Pokemon game besides RBY and GSC.

So many Gen 5 pokemon, most of them available far earlier than they were in B/W. You can get a Golett and Sigilyph before you even do the second gym.

B/W were the best games in the series since LG/FR, and right now remains the second best games in the series imo. Just the combination of great Pokémons, a good flow, fantastic music and a great story, it made it quite an amazing experience. It succeeded in making a great game where you couldn't use any of the older generation Pokémons, something I was sure would be the fall of the games. While B2/W2 dissapointed me with everything that wasn't post-game, the first games are incredibly good, and an amazing way to come back up again after what imo were the worst Pokémon games in history: D/P/P.

X & Y has to be REALLY good in order to match B/W. The Pokémons already look worse sadly, but I'm gonna hold off judgement until I play the games.

Fantastic generation, looking forward to see them melt in with the other veteran Pokémons.

Why the fuck does any act as if other gens were not linear? Just cause you have the back track fest of gen 3 and 4 didn't make them non linear. You still only had one place you could go at a time.
