It is pretty apparent at this point it is based on climate + region as designated by GF. What I mean is GF looked a regions as said, this region has primarily this climate so they get X type. Some regions with more than one primary climate have been given more than one. So two guys could be living in differing parts of the same region and be given two different types.
Exactly how thorough they have been, we don't know.
Say for example, it wouldn't be odd if someone living in southern California were to be given a different type than someone living in northern California as they have significantly different climate. That however all depends on how detailed GF has been is assigning them.
While this is still merely a theory that yet has positive confirmation, it does account for all the variables so far. With no evidence against it yet, I believe this is the best assumption we can make to operate under at the given moment.
I think perhaps it would be beneficial for those who begin these threads to post an explanation to this effect.
