If it's not on the shelf, they'll know where it is.

This guy's right. When I worked overnights, the problem wasn't us not having the games, it was that it wasn't scanned in, so you can't sell it. The back rooms are also an absolute nightmare on the GM side (at least mine was), so you're going to be waiting a bit before anyone even finds what you're asking for.

Yes it's a legit question. I know the eshop is eastern, so you can buy the game three hours early, depending on the timezone. I didn't know if walmart systems were set in some similar fashion.

They're always a nightmare on both sides. Ours is godawful. Plus, if you're going in at midnight, you might not get someone competent -- the people on the sales floor do not know how to find things in the backroom, and the people who do (us, IMS) don't have time because we have quotas to meet.

Usually if someone asks for a game that isn't on the shelf, I go in the back for about 5 minutes, give a cursory search in the games cage (which I cannot even unlock without tracking down a manager, of which there is 1 at night, and who could be anywhere in the store), and then come back and tell them if it's not on the shelf we don't have it.

If you find an experienced enough IMS member they might be able to just put the game in the system so that it can be sold to you, but that's a longshot. Most of them won't do it because we can get fired for it.

The reason why I can't go get it at 12 is because I work the night shift tonight.

I'm not sure how things are going to go down at that Walmart because it doesn't have the best reputation for its stock in the world. I'm just hoping the salesclerk is helpful and not totally useless.

If you ask me to get a manager, I tell the sales associate nearby to page the manager, and then I go back to work. I'm actually quite polite when I deal with customers, so if you threaten to complain... I probably just do the exact same thing. IMS has a lot of work to do overnight.

I don't get paid enough to argue and I like games too so if I know where it is I'll go get it for you no questions asked, but it's in your hands after that.

Because, at least at my store, the electronics associate is either ancient or does not give a flying shit, and will come get me anyway when they're asked to find something in the back, because we're the only people in the store who know how to do so with any efficiency or accuracy. Usually they aren't trained on the inventory system.

You have the options, sure, but most of our overnight electronics folks don't know how to use the IMS functions. Ours didn't. I'm only speaking from my experience, it's not like I've gone and studied every walmart's overnight crew. My original point was that stomping your foot and demanding that the poor associate go tear the backroom apart looking for your game just wastes time.

Yeah I only know of a few things I've asked from transfers and etc. In our store we have the games separate from the electronics bin, and it just needs to be unlocked. It
s a bit of a mess, but there are cases of bigger games so you just have to open a few boxes to find the right one. It's harder if they want something like MJ's Dance Revolution, but they're not scanned into a bin so there isn't really any issue with just picking it without using the 960. The last few Pokemon releases I've gone to (they didn't have an event or anything, it was just me and two little kids in line) they had the cases of games behind the counter to avoid things like that

We got the shipment in last night, it's literally prepped and ready to be put out. We start work at 11pm today. Zoning the foods section first, then everyone scatterers to their assigned sections. Electronics is the easiest section to do and should be finished before Lunch, which is 3am. We will have the game ready for all of you.

My nights are 10PM-7AM as well.

The only my shifts were goofy was when I worked days and I'd start anywhere from 10AM to 4PM and the latest I'd be at work was 11PM.

At my store, most games don't even hit the shelves until around noon unless it's insanely popular like COD or GTA.
