I'm convinced the shiny rate has been upped this gen.

I know thousands of people have the game at this point, but take into account not all of them post here, and the amount of shinies we've seen and what we probably haven't seen.

Gen 5 was the exact same. First few days was littered with shinies.

People are catching tons of Pokemon right now, thousands and thousands of battles. Obviously a few will show up shiny.

I actually restarted my old Fire Red to kill some time before the 12th and was in Mt. Moon and walked right into a shiny Zubat while trying to level up my Pikachu.
I'm working on training it now.

My first non-emulator shiny since Red Gyarados in Crystal was a purple Audino in BW2 from the Giant Chasm. Took me by surprise at least, but with shiny Pokemon everywhere now its value kind of felt diminished.

Technically you could. Since it was all based on IVs or something some Pokemon might turn out to be shiny when transferred to GSC from RBY through the Time Machine.

It seems like they raised the shiny encounter rate, but who knows, maybe it's just coincidence. We'll have official confirmation soon enough.

I feel kind of mixed about it if it is true, finding a shiny is special (I've caught 2) and if they're significantly more common it sort of takes away from that.
