The only megavolution that requires an item to reach its pre-mega stage is Scizor (stone already has been found) and even then it is an item to be held upon trade - a practice strongly encouraged.

None of the other Megas require items for evolving.

Look a list up and let it sink in.

Furthermore, none of the evolutions of older pokemon introduced by fourth generation have been touched by this point, despite that this lot holds a couple of pokemon more popular than quite a few that were hand-picked for megavolving. They are finished products and GF couldn't care less about how well they fare outside of their respective generation.
