I only have the 2gb SD card and I also have ACNL. Can I remove AC from my SD card (save it on my desktop or something) and install Pokemon?

You can do that. What I did was use the save data backup feature to back up my save data, then delete it. Then I'll redownload it when I get a bigger SD card.

No, I'm pretty sure this won't work. You are supposed to have one SD card per system. If you get a larger SD card then it is possible to swap it (you literally copy the data from your old SD card onto your computer, and then put it on the new one and use that in your 3DS, I've done it before), but the 3DS will get mad if you put data on an SD card and then swap it out for a completely new one.

Back up the save data, then delete the game, I mean. Not delete the save data. But if you only have a 2 GB card you'll need to delete nearly the whole card to make room for X and Y

Actually, when I wanted to upgrade my card from a 2 gig to a 16, I literally dragged all of the stuff from my current card into the new one, and my 3DS didn't know the difference.

It becomes tricky when you try moving only specific files, since none of them are clearly labeled as to what they hold, but if you treat it as one single entity you never hit problems.

The same can not be said, however, of taking that data and putting it on a new 3DS.

What I meant was, you can easily migrate your data from one SD card to another. You cannot, however, store some games on one SD card, store some on another, and then start switching between the two.

You can delete Animal Crossing and redownload it at a later time, like when you get a new SD card.

Anything you have downloaded is tied to your 3DS. Even if you restore it to factory settings you can download everything again. That's how I got Professor Layton for free, because the guy I bought my XL from on ebay didn't know that.
