if they were going to do this then they should've done it for all PKMN, I understand with it being released worldwide and each language needing their own Pokemon cry but fuck it. Either retcon the games completely or leave the normal crys alone.

The cries for a lot of the pre-existing pokemon (Kanto starters and Oddish for example) are subtly different now that they have far more advanced machinery than the GameBoy to play them on.

Game Freak has stated multiple times that the cries are not being replaced. Only exception is Pikachu due to mascot status, thus popularity. Pokémon Origins already proved this as an anime, though this is only true of the Japanese edition so far.
