I've been playing for 12 hours and only gotten to the 2nd gym, am I really slow or is X/Y just really big

Either way I absolutly love it

the people who complain about the possible lower number of pokemon seem to be ignoring everything else and saying 'it isn't enough'

Same here, although I'm around 11 and I just passed the gym. Both my fucking starters are level 31 too, this is insane. I'm going to have Chesnaught and Charizard before halfway through.

I've been catching everything, and occasionally I have to train up a lower level thing I catch that I briefly use.

I was at the 4th gym in white when by pokemon were the level they are when I got to the 2nd in Y. Also it seems to be a lot more variety.

Yeah, you're about the same pace as me. I think it's because there's so much variety in Pokemon in just the beginning of the game that anyone who isn't speedrunning will be preoccupied with running through all the grass. Also, the routes are pretty big, so yeah.

There are so many goddamn pokemon to catch.
I didn't beat the second gym until after 17 hours.
I caught pretty much everything in my way, leveled bunch of things to their third evo already to get dex entries (butterfree etc.) and battled and traded online a bit.

Why rush, enjoy the game for what it is. Have fun!
