So I can't play a New Game if I have a save now? How the fuck am I expected to do challenge and speed runs? I won't buy the game twice just for that shit.

I was resetting for a Jolly Torchic, and had to close/put to sleep my 3DS on the introductory sequence.

When I opened it again several minutes later, despite my save, it loaded a new game with Professor's Sycamore's face.

I reset and found my normal save.

There may not be a button for a New Game, but there are things you can do to start one with a save.

I think you guys don't understand what OP means.
In the past you could select New Game even if you already had a save, then play it, just you couldn't save it. In that way you could do other playthroughs while keeping your main, most important, first one.
Now, you can't even select New Game, if you want to you have to delete your old save.
That sucks.
