It's really early days, I'm hoping it'll improve gradually once the novelty wears off and people aren't just sending crappy ones for the hell of it (and have wider access to better mons)

I think Wonder Trade is wonderful (heuheuh). I've caught many Pokémon (over 50 before 2nd Gym) and I get many doublettes. I just trade back the doublettes and hope to score big with some version exclusive or otherwise powerful Pokémon.

Some Pokémon will never leave the "Wonder Trade Market" for sure, but if you just keep trading away your doublettes, it will start getting better for you. If you want to feel good about yourself, make sure to catch two of some rare Pokémon, and you can make the "Wonder Trade Market" a better place for at least someone by trading away your own doublette.

This. I was sending monkeys and bugs before I saw how pissed off you guys were, so I boxed one of each for novelty's sake and released the excess. Now I'm sending some stuff I got at route 5 (pancham/goro, gulpin [poison buff this gen], abra until I move on to the city. Yeah I'm getting mostly forest stuff but it's nice for the newbies to get some mons earlier so i don't mind.

Soon I'll be breeding rare stuff + good natured/high IV specifics to give out on wonder trade which should make for great ''mystery gifts''.

Well to be honest I put up shit ones on my first few times just to see how it works. At the moment most people using Wonder Trade will be first timers and stupid kids hoping to get a better draw than what they sent.

All in all it's gambling and trusting strangers to do something good... And I think we all know that's a stupid bet to make in real life, it applies in Pokemon too.

But as with life, someone's got to start being selfless somewhere. Otherwise there'd be no point at all.

I'd like if they can detect what pokemon you're using and give something back fair.
Like if you give a Level 2 Caterpie
You can get pokemon from levels 1-10

But if you give something good, Like a level 80 Noivern
Your feedback can range from levels 60-90
and so on.

(Also, does anyone know if that free month of Poke-box lets you just trade all your poke's up immediately, and you keep them in your new game even after it runs out? That's what I interpreted what it said in the options menu as), wouldn't it be possible to save prior to, say, fighting the box art legendary, trade it after, then reload the save? Or does the option just mean it won't ask you if you want to save and does it anyway?

I've decided any low level Pokémon I already caught I receive (that aren't in another language) I'm going to put in my party and gain some levels with EXP Share and teach some TMs from my point in the game. Then I'll put them back on the Wonder Trade. Turn the Pokémon sent to annoy into something that a player early in the game wouldn't mind having.

So maybe people haven't gotten far enough yet, but every time you trade, you get Trainer Miles depending on the distance between the two of you. These Miles can then be traded for things like Rare Candies and PP Ups. Wonder Trades count for miles, therefore people are just catching whatever and spamming Wonder Trades over and over to get a ton of free Trainer Miles.
