That forest you go through where Shauna keeps healing you, Pikachu is in there. I caught one and about 50% of the battles in that forest was another Pikachu. I battled like 15 Pikachu's in a row at one point.

The starters, Axew, Bagon, Honedge, Meowstic, Ralts, Nincada, Yanma, Rhydon, Kangaskhan, Helioptile, Machop, Absol, Venopede, the Fossils, a lot of the fairies are good for earlygame, I'm pretty sure you can even go grab Golett and the Eeveelutions just on the brink of that town.

Honedge in Route 6 (Below the mansion)
Inkay on the cliffs outside the Zubat Cave
Helioliptile in Route 8 (Where the rhyhorn is)
Hawlucha in the stone-henge area above the beach.
Once you complete the Glittering Cave quest, you get your Fossil.

There's a higher encounter rate for it deeper in the forest, I think the next route over has it as an uncommon encounter instead of a 1% chance

Really decent early game psychic. Good movepool, decent stats, evolves early, etc. Especially effective with the psychics/fighting types that get more and more abundant, while Ralts sort of struggles until like level 35 as Gardevoir when it finally learns something besides Confusion. Meowstic has Psyshock by like 25.

After you get the good rod, but it's in Route 8, where the second gym lies.

Emolga is a rare encounter on Route 10. They can have Static as their ability, and can learn Nuzzle, which is an electric type move identical to Thunder Wave, except it inflicts damage. They also have decent speed for that early into the game.
