I want to know this as well, a direct usage of the French language? Or plants, again?

The routes, cities and towns/villages sound very unique I don't even know what the etymology this is.

My guess is they are named from the surroundings of the city.
Aquacorde (aqua) is by a RIVER
Lumiose )(lumi) is the city of LIGHT
Ambrette (amber) is near the FOSSILS

I assume the others all have similar references, not sure what they are though.
