I'm confused by Pokemon Amie.

Is there any point in the decorations?

Has anyone witnessed the in-battle effects?

Any confirmation on its role in obtaining Sylveon?

Decorations are for fun. The Mini games are also really fun as well.

You get a ton of bonus effects in battle, evasion and higher crit rate being two major ones.

Sylveon requires it to evolve.

I can't confirm but I believe if you put cushions on the three spots in the middle (highlighted when you move decorations around) it's more likely for Pokemon passing by to stay and give you gifts

I have, my Honedge shook off sleep almost instantly to "keep me from worrying" and I've had more than a fair share of critical hits attributed to it as well

Yes, you need full Affection, which is different from standard friendliness

You only have one pokemon out. All others are ones that are listed in your passerby lists. They come hang out for a bit, then sometimes give you presents. All you need is to be connected to the internet, and have pokemon-amie open

I got my Pichu to maximum happiness or whatever using Amie and now it gains EXP like a traded Pokemon. It also does a little shake when it enters the battle field.

Also related is Lunatone's (maybe Solrock's as well, haven't checked) Pokedex entry that says something along the lines of; "this Pokemon was discovered in a meteorite that crashed 40 years ago"...well, in Ruby/Sapphire the only place you could catch them was where the meteorite landed in that cave, so Ruby/Sapphire took place about 40 years ago judging from that.

Going by the number of hearts that appear, feeding -- especially high quality puffs -- is more effective than petting, even if you find your Pokemon's favorite spot. I don't know what role Enjoyment (minigames) has.

I don't think it decreases. As for the difference between the two, feeding stops when the pokemon is full. To "empty" it, you play minigames or have him battle stuff. Petting, on the other hand stops giving you affection when enjoyment (the green notes) is empty. to full enjoyment, play minigames.
in short, pet your pokemon until it stops showing hearts, feed him until it refuses cakes, play three or four minigames (the harder, the better), then pet it, etc

Enjoyment seems to affect how long they'll play with you. If their enjoyment isn't filled up they don't seem to produce any hearts.

Weirdly, the easiest way to raise enjoyment is to have a pokemon appear as one of the secondaries in another's minigame.

The more shit on the top, the better the puff. You get better ones for playing the minigames on higher difficulties.

The headbutting game is the easiest at higher difficulties if you ask me, and they all have the same reward potential.

If you put the time into it, this feature can really help in game.

I got my Mienfoo (female) to three affection and battled the third gym leader. A message came up saying "Jacqli appears eager to battle." Next thing I know, Fake Out gets a crit and the next Drain Punch finished off the meditite.
Then the next drain punch got a crit and one-shot her machoke.

Had to switch due to Hawlucha, but there was definitely increased crits going on

You don't even have to want the benefits, it's really fun just to be able to play with your Pokemon. You'll feel a lot closer to them, about as close as you can get to a virtual creature.

It means facial recognition is activated.

It's just a little visual thing that happens when you're moving quickly.

Do whatever you like. Feeding fills fullness and minigames fill enjoyment. Affection fills slowly from petting and feeding, maybe minigames too (but I'm not sure).

It's just another way to play with your Pokemon and raise Affection. If you make faces at your Pokemon, they'll match what you're doing, and sometimes it'll start a little minigame where roles flip and you have to match what the Pokemon is doing (e.g. "Tilt your head to the left and open your mouth!"), but it's not very good at recognizing what faces you're doing.

Can't say for sure. If I had to guess, I'd say some Pokemon like certain flavors more than others.

These minigames seem a lot harder than Super Training soccer. In that, I could clear just about every regimen within a couple tries, always within the goal time. Here, I've yet to get more than two stars on the normal-rank puzzle game.

Has anyone else noticed that your Pokemon get annoyed if you touch them in certain places? Dunsparce doesn't like being touched on the wings and Skiddo doesn't seem to like being touched on the legs.

Delphox, glances at you for directions, whimpers when its low on health, is praised when it does a successfull attack, nearly always next turn paralasyis and such cure, high crit, chance to stay alive with 1 hp all around bonding with digital creature. Fantastic time waster.

They seem to be a bit harder the more you get.
