Sylveon has the similar issue as Flareon in having no moves... Though unlike Flareon she kicks all of the ass into oblivion.

Spirtzee line- One of the better fairy types over all. Good SpA and SpD.

PupCake line - It seems like it can be alright... I just havent run into a good one.

Carbink - Shuckle

Klefki - An amazing wall.

Flebebe line - Very good.

Haven't seen the legendary in action yet.

Though nothing that has had fairy tacked on to it has been worse off. It seems to be a plus to everything it touches.

Overall verdict: New favorite type/10

Through my whole playthrough I could Moonblast past anything. The only things I weren't one shotting were fire/steel/poison types. She is strong. It is a " you have to use for yourself to see" kind of thing.

The Recons are disappointing. I'm glad that Whimsicott is Grass/Fairy (it makes complete sense and I would be pissed if Game Freak didn't give it the type) but making Marill and fucking Mr. Mime part Fairy while not giving it to Mismagius and Milotic is so shitty.

Interesting new addition to the type chart, though it's done absolutely NOTHING to dethrone Dragons or put a dent in Fighting and Steel dominance.

Also, I hate most of the designs for the type. It's largely pink froufrou girly shit, or otherwise dull designs.

Every Eevee evolution aside from Vaporeon to an extent has no moves. Anyone who didn't see this coming is either blind or doesn't pay attention.

Which is a shame, since in Gen I they were all decent at worst, even Flareon.

It's kind of annoying how there's so few Fairy moves. There's like, 6 of them in total. It took most of the game for my Floette to stop sucking because of it (thank god for EXP Share, I suppose). And as far as I can tell, the good Fairy moves have shit distribution among non-Fairy types.

That's really wasting an item slot just for Power Herb. If Xerneas has good stats and a half decent movepool it might be able to use Geomancy just for the boosts, even if the opponent can just switch to Heatran or another Pokemon that double resists it.

When Fairy type was revealed, I actually expected it to be about the magical creatures of legend. Instead it mostly got applied to everything that was cute and/or pink. Why the flying fuck are Marill and Snubbull Fairy types?

Everything about X/Y and Gen 6 has been about balance and accessibility.

Everything is there to get the younger players into being able to battle competitively, they laid the groundworks for this in BW2 with Pokestar Studios. Now we have Super Training, Pokemon-Amie boosts, O-Powers and of course Fairy type. I'd say the return of so many Pokemon and lack of new Pokemon has been to keep the kids focused on learning about what is already there rather than diving into a sea of new Pokemon and legendaries and being distracted until the next gen.

Fairy type is cute and pink now, as a means for girls to be able to stack up against dragons without giving up on battling altogether. In the future, I suspect it will evolve further into the original Fairytale folklore concept many of us expected, but I think it was obvious we wouldn't see it straight away, or else there would be nothing for the girls to latch onto and no way for them to get an equal foothold in online battles.

Obviously doesn't apply to all girls, but most of my favourites are now fairy type and I'm loving that shit. I think it's unfair to say it is a move oriented towards a specific gender, but there are plenty of girls who love the stereotypical cutesy stuff - and yeah, I'm really glad I can have a Slurpuff on my team with a viable type (regardless of base stats) and not just have new cute pink Pokemon all being mono normal and therefore slightly useless.

What will happen in the future is this:

Fairy type will develop in folklore/fae territory, there will also be a (lesser) number of 'cute' fairy types (or dual fairy) types made.

That's what's going to happen. All types develop out of their original scope, Fairy will do the same. Sugimori is very influenced by Ghibli and their representation of Fairytale folklore.
