Probably not, as you're likely 20-23 years old You probably have a more vivid memory of whatever characters were featured in the first game you played--because you were younger and they mattered more.
Characters and storyline may not matter to you, but they matter more to the younger audience--and that's in large part what the game is tailored for. Don't worry, I know they have people like you in mind--there's plenty of numbers games in XY to attest to that--but if you really think that the games should be stripped down to suit your specific tastes,to hell with the rest of the consumers, you need to get out of your bubble.
