Wait for Gen VII. If they're not making another console jump, it might have more content like Gen IV to V had. If we're being completely fair, Gen IV didn't add a whole lot of new Pokemon or plot either. It was all about updating stuff.
Honestly it might be better for GF to just try that system. Make one new generation with all the new gameplay features and get them used to the new console, then make another on the same console that's much meatier now that they have more experience (read: assets to reuse) on said console.
