Why can't you take them off instead of using the D-Pad? What a piece of shit. Does skating even count towards walking?

I dont see why'd you want to use the d-pad to walk anyways since walking is still partly lined up to a grid

Because you can't control where you're going with roller skates, the circle pad isn't accurate enough to be going at that speed.

Once you get the Dowsing Machine, just leave it equipped. It cancels out the roller skates, so you can walk/run like normal using the thumb stick.

I kept seeing threads about how awful the skates were so I was worried but apparently you guys are just idiots. It took me no time to start switching seamlessly between the two pads, and I actually prefer this method as opposed to having to select the bicycle.

i agree with this, especially after figuring out you go faster if you alternate between skating normally and moving the pad in the direction you want to go rapidly to trigger the "fast skate" animation
