Severe OCD here.

Does choosing to name your pokemon then pressing the okay button without entering anything do anything? I know you're probably thinking "what the fuck is wrong with you?" But it's a serious question. I keep worrying.

It just keeps it at it's normal name. So, nothing happens.

So it'd be as if I just pressed no?

This happened because I named my Pikachu a really stupid name, caught another one because of it, and decided I wanted to keep the name pikachu when I already pressed yes.

Is leaving it blank and pressing okay the only way to get out of name selection?

When you get your kalos starter and choose to rename it, if you leave it blank and hit enter Shauna will say "Not going to name it?" or something to that effect.

While I can't say for sure in this game, in past games I've entered the name screen, decided I didn't want to name that Pokemon after all, and then just retyped that Pokemon's name into the input box. When it evolved, the Pokemon's name changed to the one of the Pokemon it evolved too.

What happens if you soft reset at the save select screen? (The menu after the introduction cutscenes)?
