I only have one badge and I just caught myself a Swirlix.
Is it worth my time to try and train it? I want to try out the new type, but I haven't seen many interesting Pokemon from it.

Also Fairy General I guess.

Fairies have been horribly mishandled

Mine became a tank. I never evolved it, but I gave it Eviolite instead and it's bulky while still being somewhat powerful.

It also gets Energy Ball, Draining Kiss, Surf, etc. My friend hates it because I use it to kick his asssss

you realize that, except for Umbreon, you couldn't get a single Dark type until post game, right? Murkrow and Houndour were in Kanto, Larvitar and Sneasel were in Mt. Silver. And they didn't even bother turning any gen 1 pokemon into Dark types.

Don't have the game yet so I'm probably speaking out of my ass, but is there any other physical fairy move other than Play Rough or whatever it's called? Because as it is right now, to me Granbull's offense seems weaker without stab Return, and I'm not even sure if it learns Play Rough. Same with Slurpuff, which I believe it's slow, physically-oriented?

This is why I'm going to leave my Flabebe in the daycare for a long time. Hopefully it will learn Moonblast by the mid to late 30s. If it does then our reunion will be heartfelt and glorious.

Anyways, obviously the flower is a separate entity, as an anemone houses clownfish etc. That is the design GF chose and the fuck not, pure fairy is better than grass/fairy. This is a good thing.

The lack of the Grass typing can also be explained through concept. Sewaddle line are based on Praying Mantis whose bodies actually look like leaves therefore in Pokemon Leavanny's leaves are part of its body.

Florges seem to be designed around fairies adorning themselves with flowers and protecting them - while not being a flower themselves. Of course, Game Freak could've just made Florges Fairy/Grass but they didn't make Mismagius Ghost/Fairy so I'm not surprised.

Whimsicott's behavior and abilities are directly from Fairy Lore. Its Japanese name has Elf in it while its French name literally translates to fluffy Leprechaun.
Just because Lilligant is a flower doesn't mean it should be Fairy.

Wow this is painful - mutual is a type of symbiotic relationship, in this case the Pokémon and the flower are both benefitting from the relationship. symbiosis exclusively describes only a relationship between two individual species (i.e. mutualism, parasitism, commensalism)

I actually agree with most of these.

The main problems with it are that GF is too pussy to do that many retcons and that they honestly aren't smart enough to do something like a lot of those type combinations anyway.

They'd rather give us a fuckton of pure Fairy types, a handful of type combos THAT DON'T FUCKING EVOLVE, and leave it at that.
