I think the pacing is a bit off, and the story is a bit boring so far. I actually felt engaged in B/W's story for once, so this is one so far is a bit disappointing.

Actually yeah I do. X and Y felt like they were putting so much work into stuff that wasn't THAT important to the actual game that they didn't put enough focus into THE ACTUAL GAME but I think now that they've finished all the models and animations and what not as well as the region its self, they'll have more time to work on the story.

The sheer variety and availability of Pokemon. Very early access to gems such as Gogoat, Hawlucha, Vivillon, and Honedge. Friend Safari is also fantastic post-game.

Sometimes the camera is difficult, especially in Lumiose City. Circle pad always being the roller skates is also somewhat annoying, there should be an option to turn it off and replace it with running.

Graphics, Super Training, tons of Pokemon variety.

Worst
Variety is not balanced out by harder difficulty, new Pokemon do not cover many types adequately, designs are less creative than Gen V.

Aime, mostly its effects. The graphics. All the little details, like two color for your bike, designs for your battle screen, Pokemon appearing from above in caves or suddenly in the ground in the desert, etc.

But other then that, this is probably my favorite gen so far. Each time the games get so much more immersive, which is my favorite part. I really feel like I'm in the pokemon world this gen.

Saving outside in Lumiose can fuck you up when trying to reload especially before the blackout ends, it's possible to glitch into the walls in Lumiose, sometimes the game fails to load textures in battle properly and that can corrupt your save file, some other things as well.

Yes, but the question is if they will. Probably though, this kind of stuff happened with every past main Pokemon game's initial Japanese release, and would get fixed in second prints of the game and international releases.

The only Nintendo games to receive patches so far are Animal Crossing in Japan because it had some really bad bug at launch, and Mario Kart 7 because it had a massive glitch shortcut on two courses.

Which is nice given that Gen IV's was a 5/10 and all the rest were 2/10

I'll take it because Lysandre is interesting, and it does a lot for the lore of the Pokemon world (is this the same war that ravaged Unova?), even if all of the Team Flare grunts are complete fucking morons and the story sets itself along with all the subtlety of an IED strapped to an alarm clock.

All pokemon games do this with all enemies though.

I caught 15 pokemon in the first 10 minutes of the game and it took a half hour for me to find a trainer with more than 2 pokemon.

You literally can't lose unless you get an awful type matchup or let them set up on you with something like rollout

I'd argue so. There was one game series I started playing a lot in recent years where the first game had no real noticable glitches, but just a year laterthe sequel was Sonic 2006 levels of glitchy at the initial release. It also got several patches including ones planned from day one to add new content unlike the original which never needed a patch.

For Pokemon though, this is nothing new.

It sucks but use your EV maxed out whatever and just spam training till you have 10 of whatever you need and use it on the other pokemon.

Its boring but it's much faster than trying to do 10 10 10 10 10 24 10 10 10 on something that needs 8000 damage to beat

I think considering how much these games emphasize building a bond with your pokemon it would've been a good time to reintroduce team rocket since they're the group that's whole thing has been using pokemon as tools. Buuut I can see why they didn't do that.

I'd say Colosseum and XD have the best. But this is the closest the main games have come to their level, at least in the overworld. The battle themes still don't stand a chance to me.

You just go to the eShop and download the patch, that's it. I'm not actually sure how it works, because the update shows up in your system memory and you can delete it (I haven't tried that).

Best thing is just...how enjoyable it is. Amie, super training, petting your pokemon after they take down an opponent...models are awesome and all the animations are great and full of personality. Also the online functions or passerby stuff is just awesome. Wondertrade and randomly battling people you don't know make it more fun. I get like 20 "likes" from randomass japanese people and I love it.

Bad, its too easy. I don't play competitively so I don't much care about balance usually, but when gyms are easily 1HKO'd into submission...eh. It kind of loses the fun. I like the exp share but I wish it worked like last gen where I could buff up whichever pokemon I wanted. Having it buff your whole team makes switching not really important when randomly battling.

I agree though. It's just that the dialogue feels so unusually stilted. The writing is particularly bad this time for some reason. At least in BW everybody tended to sound similar to actual humans

I personally disliked BW1's plot as a whole, it just felt like they were trying way too hard which made the poor plot stand out all the more, but that's irrelevant.

It's a tie between 1) Quality-of-life improvements such as short load screens, less grinding, streamlined menus, etc. and 2) The great animation, both in Pokémon battles and in the overworld. I can tell a lot of effort went into the little details. (Animation =/= graphics)

Come on. Nobody who's believably evil refers to themselves as such. At least Lysandre was a "misguided" evil.

I think that's what it is about this game; it's that Team Flare seems so much worse because the one key villain is actually not atrocious. The same problem plagued BW.

Scoring the highest in a test in the learning support department doesn't make you smart

PMD Gates to Infinity, while not a very good game, had a story and character roster that wasn't ha;f bad, once you get past the constant walls of text which insist on repeating itself

Still a 4/10 story, 5/10 if I'm feeling generous. Still, N's the best main series character (Actually fits that he comes across as creepy/autistic/whatever buzzword is used these days), but I seriously wish they done more with Team Plasma. No one gave any reasons why pokemon training is good or bad and the whole affair just felt like 'I can scream louder than you!'

But looking back, I am so glad that they made the two villains the last bosses and not the champion. They really should have rolled the credits after fighting Cyrus and Giratina in Platinum, going from that to 'this gym leader is bored, challenge him' really felt like post-credit stuff.

i actually have buyer's remorse. i got it after /v/ hyped it for being 3d so you can guess how buthurt i am. the graphics are bad for 2013 and the fixed camera is unbearably frustrating. the game's art style is also bad but it's been bad since gen 4

i was also expecting at least 100 brand new pokemon. it's sad to see all the /vp/ team threads and everybody has the same teams because there's so few decent designs and the ones that are have the same type: noivern, tyrantrum, greninja, pangoro, goodra

i'm not even at the second gym yet and i'm already putting it down. i'm wanting to keep playing for the potential endgame content, but i already read there isn't. gens 2 and 3 are still the pinnacle of the series for me and i hate nintendo for letting gamefreak scrape by with the bare minimum
