I'd like to tried the Masuda method and try to breed some decent natured shinies. Curious how it works - when the egg is generated it determines if it is shiny or not right? So you probably end up with a ton of extra breed Pokemon?

Going to try my hand at Pokemon breeding seriously for the first time once I hit post-game.

I got my 8th legit shiny last night, (Not from chaining, red Gyarados, or events). Named it Pelistorm and is currently a fly slave. Might use if I play with Fennekin, as Talonflame will be for Chespin.

My first shiny, other than a Zubat I accidently killed and a Pidgey on an emulator.
I'm not using him right now because I have Talonflame as my flyer, but I'm still pretty happy about it.

Legitimate question:
If you're already using the Masuda method to try and get a shiny, why wouldn't your first goal be to get a shiny Ditto with it?
Does the trick when breeding with Shiny Ditto no longer work? I know that in GSC it increased shiny rate in children significantly.

I just hatched out a shiny Espurr using the MM, she's pink and Modest and adorable. Keen Eye, but hey you can't win'em all.

We don't know if Xerneas/Yveltal/Zygarde are the same way... and we won't know until someone either finds a shiny one or people hack the game and datamine it
