It's primarily a physical attacker, with decent phyisical balk and HP.

I went 252 atk, 252 def, 4 HP.

Adamant nature, or really anything that lowers the Sp. Attack. I've been EVing Attack & Speed. Moveset, I am not sure yet because I haven't fully trained, but Psycho Cut & Superpower are great moves for Malamar. Good luck!

Isn't Superpower a Fighting move? Wouldn't it's main attack be something with STAB...? Does it learn anything else notable?

Superpower is good because contrary raises it's attack and defense each time it uses it. It probably learns night slash, and zen headbutt/psycho cut for STAB.

You mean aside from its natural bulkiness so anything trying to lower its stats actually powers it up. As well as having... what. Two weaknesses? It can also learn Topsy Turvy, so it actually counters the ever popular Aegislash.

If you're using superpower, EV for HP instead of defense. you'll get plenty of defense from the boosts.

Honestly you could possibly skip attack as well, and go with something like 252 HP/SpDef Calm. Play it like bulk-up Scrafty with damage on buff.

I think anon was implying that a Malamar could peck away at an Aegislash, and gain 2 attack stages for its efforts if it used King's Shield. If an Aegislash then tried to use swords dance, then it could just Topsy Turvy its combat stages. Seems like a pretty hard counter to Aegislash.
