I'm buying my first 3DS and X or Y today. What are the merits and faults of each version?

Also, can I transfer pokemon from BW2 with one DS and a 3DS, do I need one 3DS or 2 3DS? Would really love to get my DW females over to X/Y.

Which starter has the best offensive stats?
