I actually like that GF is making it more explicit that you don't have a dad instead of implying he is off screen. In BW2, you had a dining room with seats for only 2 people, while here your mother sleeps in a single bed and is open to love letters.

Actually, one nice little detail in XD is that it explicitly mentions the MC's dad is dead.
