A bunch of pokemon with small movepools use hidden power for coverage. What's going to to happen to them now that its base power has been reduced to 60?

For example, Heatran id now stopped pretty much dead by Gastrodon

I;m still not sure how Pixilate works. Is it tha same as Normalize except with Fairy-type or does it only transform a specific type on move to Fairy?

The former is pretty decent, although maybe not as good as Trace, but the latter is pretty much shit-tier

I agree. It's playstyle is too balanced on prediction to be of any reliable use competitively. It can and will fuck up new players. I plan on using it for the first couple months until people start to figure out what it can do. Sort of like Unaware Quagsire last gen

Sure, low BP moves suck, unless they have priority, which water shuriken has. You'd pair it with a higher bp water move like waterfall, then get 2 other moves for coverage/setup/etc.

Priority breaks sashes and Sturdy, stops FEAR, ensures damage if you get outsped and can land good KOs on certain things. Priority is a strength of its own, it doesn't need high BP.

what is skarmory, what is steelix, what is misdreavous, what is gengar, what is ttar, what is rhydon, what is miltank, what is umbreon. Lax is centralizing as fuck, and undeniably the best pokemon in gen 2, but there are tons of ways to beat a curselax.

He's packing a 140 move with no drawbacks, is fast as shit, and has a very diverse movepool, on top of decent special attack. He's basically Crobat (Who is already very usable in OU on top of dominating in UU) except better in every way.

I'm still not convinced on that 140bp move (Boombox, was it?) It's Normal Type, right? That's pretty shit coverage. It's pretty good for raw power, but you're gonna have to be packing some pretty serious coverage to compensate.

Still, I guess it's not that different to physical sweepers running Return. It'll be OU for sure

Boomburst isn't even his strongest point, it's his ability to pack Dragon Pulse, Flamethrower, Hurricane, and Energy Ball with a passable Sp. Atk while still being one of the fastest mons in the game.

Rude. With Unburden, Fighting Gem may prove useful albeit only on its first entry into battle. Power-Up Punch may not be as good as Swords Dance, but any boost that also causes damage is worth while. Lastly, I hope your dismissiveness of Poison-type moves comes from predicting Fairy-types to be less prevalent than most do rather than ignorance of the new type effectiveness chart.

And please tell me a matchup where Life orb is the really superior item on zam. Sash let's it hit a counter twice, which is very often enough to kill it and sweep lategame.

a) they're not guaranteed
b) you're now playing 5 against 6.
And if you're using, or facing people who are using, Skarmory or Forretress as suicide leads you are definitely below 1400. There is not a single good player that has ever used one of those as a suicide lead and with good fucking reason.

No worries. He can learn shadow ball, dark pulse, psychic, flamethrower, dragon pulse, hurricane and boomblast from TMs/heart scales. I'm not sure about egg moves but presumably he's in the dragon and flying egg groups so he may be able to learn it from sceptile or something..

I'm thinking about starting to get into competitively battling, would this be the generation to do so. I don't think I'll run anything super serious or do ou, so I ask, is NU/RU tiers fun? I like the diverse options it seems to has. Mind you all I've done is read smogon's website about the Gen5 Meta and such, but it looks like competitive battling could be something fun and casual to do on my free time.

I don't know if this is the right thread to ask this, but if it isn't I'll just delete this post. Also, should I just use a simulator till the scene takes off in X/Y or has it already? I'm fairly clueless on the matter.

So is it possible for Drapion and Skuntank to rise in tiers this Generation? Still the only type combo with one weakness that's easily covered by an air balloon, STAB damage to Fairy types, and wall Psychics.

This is the right thread to ask but now is probably a bad time to ask about RU/NU since they don't actually exist in Gen 6 yet. No tiers do. And I'm say it's probably a bit late to get into Gen 5 since it's dying very quickly as Ge n6 gets all this hype. Give it a week or so and OU will still be a complete mess with Deoxys and Darkrai running around but it'll be playable.

It's only natural. I think we might actually be pretty active now that Gen 6 is here because there's so much to discuss whereas all we had a month ago was RMTs and Other Metas.

I personally think RU and NU are nice tiers - however, it will take a while until everything stabilizes and everything can be reclassified in tiers. The current RU/NU tiers are for 5th gen. 6th gen is being implemented as we speak however, it's already available as beta and pretty popular (you can only battle through challenges right now, though).
I also think it's alright to not go full srs bsns, at least not immediately, it comes over time.
