What if your first shiny is a gimme, but the chance to find one decreases each time.

Like 1/500, then 1/5000, then 1/50000, etc.

Do people really find Shinies that often?

In my past two years of being back into Pokemon, I've played HeartGold twice, Black twice and Black 2 once. And the only shiny I've seen was a Mienfoo on Victory Road.

Currently 30 hours in and haven't seen a single shiny yet.

Well, I wasn't looking for a shiny. I was just looking for a well-natured Eevee. I never shiny hunt because I think that makes them less special. Anyway, MM is infinitely better than soft resetting. SRing only resets the game. That's it. I was only doing it so I wouldn't have to waste Pokéballs if I got a bad Eevee.

Didn't see any shinies during my ~40 hours of main story run through, but I did find a shiny in about 50 eggs when I was Masuda breeding Skrelp. I think the odds are definitely more like 1 in a few hundred now.

On another board I polled people who have been playing since launch. About 25 percent said they had seen a shiny (over 100 people voted).

54 hours nothing.
most of it playing the game catching pokemon exploring beat the game at 46 hours.
did some breeding method for a new goomy.
currently doing some friend zone catching.

last shiny was pidove from black and before that was a poochyena when they were in ruby I think.

ruby was lost due to time think some kid stole it.

and Female pidove line looks like my friend's dog so gave it to her for her birthday present shes far more into pokemon then me.
