Am I the only one who thinks this gen was a bit rushed, not a lot, but rushed nonetheless?

I feel like the whole game was made for game freak to say:
>LOOKLOOKLOOK MEGA EVOLUTIONS OMG LOOK WHAT YOU CAN DO
>also FAIRIES FAIRIES FAIRIES FAIRES
>YOU GET A NERF, AND YOU GET A NERF EVERYBODY GETS A NERF

Story wise, this gen is the worst. . .
