It was all potential and shit. Ash's Pokemon had personalities, Axew wanted to evolve, D/P left us off with Ash in the finals, Rocket was being competent and no longer monster of the week nonsense. Pikachu got shot by a legendary the first episode and had an excuse for powering down compared to "oh I got sick but despite curing me by the end of the episode it was a special sickness that drained all my power"
But then nevermind let's throw all that potential away.
